We have one goal in The Wolf River Singers - to present top-quality programs in a variety of musical styles in a wide array of settings. Since our first concert in 1994, this independent, non-profit choral group has stayed true to that goal. We were supported in part by an ABC Grant from the Tennessee Arts Council.
Would you like to be a part of our group? We are alwayslooking for new singers. An open rehearsal is held once a year, with auditions afterwards. Or, if you'd like to schedule an audition, call Ben Legett at 901-758-8634.
In addition to our holiday program and a Concert and Silent Auction in late May or June, this group of flexible, energetic and talented musicians also offers programs that have touched the many spectrums of the Memphis music culture. Our Spring concert, usually held in mid-March, is what we consider our "serious" musical offering.
It is this concert that features our annual commissioned piece. We began a four-year choral commissioning project in 2007 with "A Shaker Tryptych" by well-known Tennessee composer and Wolf River Singers Conductor Ben J. Legett. The 2008 concert premiered "God of the Open Air," by internationally renowned composer Wayland Rogers. Two to three more concerts will feature compositions commissioned by The Wolf River Singers.
